Selena Gomez Source Slams Smear: NOT ‘Scared’ Of ‘Violent’ Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber just made the imaginary leap from juvenile house-egger to “sociopath.” One whom Selena Gomez is supposedly “scared of,” and is now worried she can’t “escape her violent first love.”

That is, if you believe this week’s breathless, gossip claim from Life Style Weekly.

Despite being shamed online by E! News in September, when E! categorically refuted the tabloid’s claim that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez had a secret commitment ceremony, the magazine is now taking advantage of the couple’s recent split to shill another fantastic tale.

The magazine alleges Bieber has “bombarded” his on-off girlfriend with texts and phone calls. So much so, that Gomez has supposedly “become genuinely afraid of her ex, who has an infamous history of violent and erratic behavior.”

Before listing more of the rag’s sensationalist claims, a Gomez source has already blasted them as completely false.

Gossip Cop reports the insider told them, “Selena is in no way afraid of Justin, and he has not been sending her threatening texts.”

Given that the couple have split up, it’s significant that the actress-singer’s camp have still been quick to slam this latest, wild claim.

(Photo: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez pictured in Canada in August.)

With Gossip Cop’s source strong denial in place, it’s back to Life Style. It’s alleged Justin “has no intention of letting Selena go,” and is “blowing up” her “phone with countless texts and calls.”

An alleged mole supposedly told Life Style, “It’s made her worried to leave the house,” adding, “She thinks he’s acting like a sociopath.”

The unethical tabloid alleges Gomez is now “petrified” the Biebs will turn up at her home or places of work, as he allegedly refuses to stay away “no matter how much she asks him.”

Clearly, Life Style is blissfully unaware Bieber is currently staying in New Jersey with pal pastor Carl Lentz of the Hillsong NYC church on a kind of “religious retreat.”

Meanwhile, Gomez was seen at a sushi lunch with friends in Studio City on Wednesday, looking remarkably calm for someone on a “sociopath’s” ‘To-Do’ list, Mail Online reports.

(Photo: The Disney alum in Studio City, Los Angeles, Wednesday, October 29.)

The magazine even went as far as claiming Gomez is supposedly thinking about getting a court order of protection against Bieber if his alleged harassment continues.

“Selena thinks he’s acting like a stalker,” an invented source claims. “She just wants him to go away.”

The Inquisitr isn’t surprised fraudulent claims are being made by Life Style.

Their latest — that Kate Middleton is being “tormented” by Queen Elizabeth II, over missed engagements due to her previous morning sickness — a case in point.

It’s no secret that the Bieber-Gomez news cycle has increasingly become a toxic dumping ground for bogus stories. Just weeks ago, OK! magazine claimed Selena was “destroying herself” to be with Bieber, and had even kicked her family to the curb.

That claim was shown to be entirely without merit when Selena was accompanied by her mother to the Rudderless premiere in Los Angeles on October 7. Since then, the starlet posted an Instagram snap with her mother to announce their team-up with Trigger Street Productions.

In closing: considering Justin is 20 and Selena is 22, these relentless click bait allegations citing invented sources aren’t just a waste of everyone’s time, they could more accurately be described as the commercially motivated abuse of two young people.

Burkina Faso’s revolution 2.0

After two days of protests in Burkina Faso the president, Blaise Compaoré, has reportedly abandoned plans to amend the constitution to allow himself a further three terms in office.

Followed on Twitter by journalists and protestors, and with live reports streaming on Radio Omega FM Ouaga’s online station, this “revolution 2.0” has been called a victory by the Burkinabè opposition.

Communications minister, Alain Edouard Traore, announced the move in a hurried statement after the parliament, national TV and radio buildings were stormed, and statues were toppled in the country’s second largest city, Bobo Dioulasso.

At 12.15pm, Compaoré took to Twitter to appeal for “calm and serenity” as protests continued to rage outside government buildings.

French media also reported that the president’s brother was arrested as he tried to flee the country, and statements by the army’s Général Kouamé Lougué have fuelled speculation that the army are poised to remove Compaoré from power.

At 1.40pm Reuters photojournalist Joe Penney tweeted: “People marching towards presidency led by General Kwamé Lougé. About to meet presidential guard loyal to Blaise. Final assault #burkina.”

Despite already being reported as a victory for the Burkinabè people against Compaoré’s “constitutional coup d’etat”, protesters say they continue to face rounds of live ammunition from the security forces even after the announcement, as governments buildings continue to burn:

On Twitter, journalists and protesters have been following events using the #lwili hashtag, named after the traditional Burkinabè Lwili Peendé cloth being worn by many in the protests.

Now dubbed Burkina’s “revolution 2.0”, a reference also to the country’s popular movement led by Thomas Sankara in 1983, the announcement suggests a promising break with the trend set by various African rulers finding elasticity in constitutional limits, including Chad, Gabon, Guinea, Namibia, Togo and Uganda.

Commentators have also been linking Burkina Faso’s protests to a wider recent history of revolution and unrest. Opposition activist Emile Pargui Pare told the AFP news agency: “October 30 is Burkina Faso’s Black Spring, like the Arab Spring.”

A communique read on Radio Omega at 5pm says Compaoré has “dissolved government”, declared a state of emergency, and has made an appeal to the opposition leaders and to the public to end the protests and “stay calm”.

Here is a text of the address, as reported by Reuters and the BBC:

“A state of emergency is declared across the national territory. The chief of the armed forces is in charge of implementing this decision which enters into effect today. Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Beware Of Pet Store Claims

Dear Porky and Buddy,
I was in a pet store the other day, I don’t want to give out their name because I don’t want to get them in trouble, but they had the most gorgeous Golden Retriever puppies for sale, about 7 weeks old. I know that a lot of puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills and I would not support that, so I asked and the owner assured me that all of her puppies come from local breeders and if I bought one, she would give me the paperwork. What do you think?
Ken

Dear Ken,
We think she is either lying or she is buying puppies from a New York State commercial dog breeding facility (there are 33 of them, mostly in Western New York and the Finger Lakes region, so “local,” we suppose).

She is not buying from a responsible breeder because no responsible breeder would allow his or her puppies to be sold willy nilly in a pet store to just anybody, nor would they take them from their mother at seven weeks.

Furthermore, she is required by law to show you the information concerning the source of these puppies before you buy one.

And New York law forbids the sale of puppies less than eight weeks of age.

In 2011, the Humane Society of the United States conducted an investigation of 100 pet stores in the New York City area.

They used on-site hidden camera visits to some of the stores, document reviews of all of them, and visits to puppy suppliers.

The HSUS found many deceptive practices concerning the origin of the puppies these stores were selling.

All of them were selling puppy mill puppies, many from some of the most horrific puppy mill operators in the country.

All of them, on their websites, in ads, and in their stores claimed that they obtained their puppies from “small local breeders,” not from puppy mills.

They all lied.

We think you should run, not walk away from this store and you should report what happened during your visit to both the New York Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Agriculture and Markets.

You can find the links to do that on each of their websites.

Then when you are done with your civic responsibility, go to Petfinder.com and type in Golden Retriever in the breed search box.

You’ll be amazed, you’ll probably save money, and you will definitely save a life.

Tom Hanks befriends a cab driver; Beyonce's unauthorized biography; more

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Tuesday’s entertainment news includes CBS picking up full seasons of its shows, an unauthorized Beyoncé biography and a cab driver who met Tom Hanks.

Hugh Jackman has been treated for skin cancer again. This marks the third time this year the actor has been treated for a basal cell carcinoma.

Country star Toby Keith has weighed in on the War on Terror. Keith told a country station that ISIS doesn’t scare him.

CBS has picked up full season orders for four of its new shows. The lucky programs are “Stalker,” “Madam Secretary,” “Scorpion” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”

Humans of New York’s Facebook page interviewed a cab driver who had a chance encounter with Tom Hanks that provided a memory that will last a lifetime.

It’s been a while, but director Kevin Smith finally shaved his beard. He Instagrammed it and it’s kind of crazy.

Grand Central Books has announced it will release an unauthorized biography of Beyoncé that won’t feature any interviews with the diva, but will document her life. We’ll see how that goes.

Life & Style: Fall Decorations

By Leslie Linsley

Contributing Writer

(Oct. 26, 2014)
It’s hard to believe, but Halloween is less than a week away. When my kids were little it was such fun to dress them up, and it was an excuse to dress up myself. Right now the winterberry and colorful leaves and branches are just there for the taking. Nature provides so much for creativity.

Here are some fun and easy projects to do with your kids to create decorations for Halloween. You can keep them around well into November, for fun fall décor.

• Pipe Cleaner Tree: Make a Halloween tree with black pipe cleaners.

1. Insert several pipe cleaners into a florist’s block for the base. Then wrap more pipe cleaners around the upright cleaners to create a bent and gnarled trunk.

2. Make branches by attaching and twisting pipe cleaners into different shapes. Wrap small bundles of candy in orange fabric or napkins and tie with orange ribbons to hang from the branches.

• Fall Centerpiece: Cover the center of your table with leaves and place a decorated pumpkin in the center.

Or, make a family of three different-sized pumpkins, each decorated accordingly with black markers (if you don’t want to scoop and carve all three).

Add curly ribbon hair to the top of one and glue bushy yarn eyebrows to another or use sequins, beads, buttons and other odds and ends for your creation.

• Creative Candleholders: Group tiny pumpkins together to hold votive candles. Cut a hole in the top of each one, large enough to insert a candle. Line them up on the windowsill. No pumpkin-carving needed.

• Ribbon Pumpkin:

1. For an elegant centerpiece, begin with a large Styrofoam ball.

2. Cut strips of different shades of orange ribbon long enough to wrap from the top to the bottom of the ball.

3. Attach one end with a pin into the top of the Styrofoam and bring the other end to the opposite side. Attach with another pin.

4. Continue to wrap the ball in this way with alternate shades of color.

5. Cut felt leaves and a stem and attach to the top of the pumpkin with pins. Or use ribbon that can be curled by firmly drawing it over a scissors to make a clump of green for the top. Curl ribbon over a pencil and attach for trailing vines.

If you can’t find a large enough Styrofoam ball, make several small pumpkins or use an old basketball.

• 15-Minute Decoration: This is usually my kind of project since I am always pressed for time.

1. Weave orange and black ribbons through a loose-reed basket and fill with candy corn.

2. Tie the handle with a large crepe paper bow and set it in a visible place.

• Lots of Candles:

Fill the center of your table with clear glass votive candle-holders in different sizes and heights.

Float candles in water surrounded by tiny orange and yellow winterberries.

Arrange branches of leaves here and there and set out bowls of candies for your trick-or-treaters.

Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Can A Cat Be A Companion For A Dog?

Dear Porky and Buddy,
I have a wonderful black lab named Barney, about nine months old, and I think he needs a friend. I work during the day and play with him a lot in the morning and when I get home, but he is alone during the day. The problem is that my landlord will only allow one dog, so I am thinking maybe I should get him a cat to play with. Do you think that’s a good idea?
Jim

Dear Jim,
By play with, we are going to assume that you mean “as a companion,” as opposed to “as a toy.”

It’s an important distinction.

Yes, cats and dogs can live happily with each other and even become good friends, but they can also become sworn enemies, so it is important that you make this decision carefully and implement it well.

Here are the issues to consider.

Has Barney been around cats already?

How did he get along with them?

If he was used to cats when he was younger, that is a good start.

How well trained is he?

Does he always come when you call and does he always obey when you say, “Leave it,” or “Drop it?”

Is he inclined to chase after small furry things like squirrels?

Will he stop when you tell him to?

If he suddenly thinks that his new “friend” is actually his “toy” you need to be able to stop him?

If you are not confident about this, we suggest doggie daycare instead.

A big untrained dog can injure or kill a cat in an instant.

And a cat will fight back and possibly injure him.

But let’s assume that Barney is basically a good well-trained dog.

Have you looked at potential cats to adopt?

Are you thinking about a kitten?  Kittens sometimes adjust more easily to something as strange as a dog and they are very playful.

Have you found a mellow older cat that is accustomed to dogs? Another good choice.

Whatever you decide about introducing a cat or kitten to your household, do you have a safe place or places for the newcomer when you are away?

Do you have time to spend carefully introducing them to each other so that they can become friends?

If you adopt from the Oswego County Humane Society, they will give you an instruction sheet about introducing your new cat to Barney.

Plus, there are many good online resources with detailed instructions about how to do it, too many to go into here.

Check out the ASPCA for starters.

It’s up to you to protect both Barney and your new cat and set up introductions carefully so that they both feel safe and have pleasant experiences getting acquainted.

And it may take time, no you should not adopt a new kitten and plop her down in the living room in front of Barney to see what happens!
